| Obverse description | Crude hammered silver denier struck under Bishop Theoderich of Basel. The obverse field displays the bishop's name arranged in a grid-like pattern across three lines, reading T HE OIR D, rendered in angular, archaic Romanesque letterforms. The inscription is distributed across the flan in a cross-shaped arrangement typical of early medieval episcopal deniers.
