| Obverse description | Central field bears a multi-line inscription arranged in three rows, flanked by cross-like decorative elements in the quarters. Two X-shaped marks appear in the fields surrounding the central lettering. The legend, rendered in a debased Carolingian script characteristic of 11th-century episcopal coinage, reads across the flan in retrograde and ligatured forms. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border typical of Rhenish hammered deniers of the period. |
