| Obverse description | Head of the nymph Segesta facing left, rendered in fine late Archaic to early Classical style, her hair elaborately dressed and bound with a wreath or diadem, with loose curling locks falling behind the neck. A small circular earring is visible at the ear. The portrait is set within an irregular flan with no surrounding legend on this side, occupying the full field in high relief characteristic of Sicilian engraving of the period. |
