| Reverse description | The central field displays a five-line Kufic Arabic inscription comprising Quranic verses from Surah Al-Ikhlas (112:1–4), reading 'God is One, God the Eternal, He begetteth not, nor was He begotten, and there is none comparable unto Him.' The text is contained within a double-lined inner circle surrounded by a dotted border. The outer marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surah Al-Tawba (9:33), beginning with the Basmala and attesting to Muhammad as the Messenger of God sent with guidance and the religion of truth. The design is entirely epigraphic in the established Umayyad reformed dirham tradition. |
