The text is contained within a double-lined inner circle surrounded by a dotted border. The outer marginal legend carries the Quranic verse from Surah Al-Tawba (9:33), beginning with the Basmala and attesting to Muhammad as the Messenger of God sent with guidance and the religion of truth. The design is entirely epigraphic in the established Umayyad reformed dirham tradition. |
