| 正面描述 | Tughra of Sultan Murad IV rendered in bold calligraphic strokes, occupying the central field of the flan. The imperial monogram, characteristic of Ottoman coinage, is executed in Arabic script with the interlocking loops and vertical strokes typical of the period. The strike is irregular, consistent with hammered silver coinage of the Baghdad Eyalet. |

Murad IV recaptured Baghdad from Safavid Persia in 1638 after a siege of roughly 39 days, ending nearly two decades of Persian occupation. The Treaty of Zuhab, signed shortly after, fixed the Ottoman-Safavid border in terms that held, with minor adjustments, for over a century. This dirhem was struck in the immediate aftermath — a fresh mint reasserting Ottoman authority in a city that had changed hands twice within living memory.
