An olive sprig appears to the upper right of the owl, and a crescent is visible to the left, both derived from the standard Athenian owl coinage iconography. The field is filled with pellets representing additional decorative elements in the local imitative tradition. A Greek inscription appears in the lower exergual area. To the left, a schematic palm frond or branch motif is incised, further distinguishing this issue as a provincial Arabian imitation. |
