A modern replica of a Sasanian drachm issued under Ardashir I, founder of the Sasanian Empire following his defeat of the last Arsacid ruler Artabanus IV at the Battle of Hormozdgan in 224 AD. The .800 fine silver content and 6.4g weight diverge from authentic Ardashir issues, which were typically struck in higher-purity silver on slightly lighter flans — a reliable diagnostic alongside the absence of period-consistent die wear.
