Obverse description Diademed bust of Phraates IV facing left, wearing a torque at the neck and a decorated tiara adorned with a row of pearls along its base. A bird (eagle) is depicted behind the king's head in the upper right field. The portrait displays the characteristic Parthian style with a large almond-shaped eye rendered in profile. A circular border of dots frames the design.

Reverse description The archer king Arsaces seated to the right on an omphalos throne, holding a bow in his right hand. A monogram appears below the bow in the field, and a club or sceptre is depicted behind the throne to the right. The Greek dynastic legend encircles the design, reading from the upper left and proclaiming the titles of the Arsacid king.
