| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the elaborate calligraphic tughra of Sultan Mahmud I, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman style with interlaced strokes, ascending vertical shafts (tuğ), and a sweeping leftward bow (beyze). Two rosette ornaments flank the upper portion of the tughra, a small crescent device appears in the lower left field, and a circular floral medallion occupies the lower centre. The entire design is enclosed within a boldly executed rope or cable border running along the coin's periphery, typical of Egyptian-mint gold issues of this period. |
