| 表面の説明 | The arms of Zürich displayed within a Spanish-shaped shield, depicting the characteristic diagonal division with alternating blue and white stripes (per fess azure and argent); the initial letter Z appears above the shield as a civic identifier, flanked by small rosettes in the left and right fields. The design is rendered in a simplified, low-relief style consistent with small billon coinage of the 17th century. |

The Zürich Haller was among the smallest-denomination coins produced by the city, intended for the most granular transactions at a time when urban commerce demanded fractional coinage that larger issues couldn't efficiently serve. Billon production in Zürich fluctuated considerably with the availability of debased silver, and the city's mint periodically suspended small coinage when metal costs made the exercise economically absurd.
The Hürlimann reference gap is notable — copies that fall outside that catalog's numbering tend to represent transitional die states or administrative restrikes that didn't fit neatly into the compiler's sequence.
