| Beschrijving voorzijde | A tunny fish rendered in high relief occupies the lower portion of the field, oriented to the left, serving as the civic badge of Kyzikos. Superimposed above it, centrally placed and dominating the flan, is a honeybee depicted from a dorsal perspective with wings extended laterally in a straight, horizontal position and a segmented, naturalistically modeled abdomen. The composition is tightly framed within the round flan, with both devices rendered in the confident, bold style characteristic of early Kyzikene electrum coinage of the fifth to fourth centuries BC. The field is otherwise plain. |

Kyzikos dominated electrum coinage production in the Propontis region for roughly two centuries, and its hekte issues circulated far beyond local markets — Athenian records and Black Sea site finds both confirm their reach as a de facto international trade currency. The city's electrum was alloyed with enough silver to produce a consistent pale gold, distinguishing Kyzikene issues from the richer-toned Lydian electrum that preceded them.
H&L I#47A is a relatively scarce type within the series.
