The figure holds a long scepter or hasta in the right hand and extends the left arm outward, possibly holding a small object. Surrounding the figure in the field are scattered pseudo-legend symbols and isolated letterforms, including a crescent and pellets, reflecting the local engraver's imperfect copying of a Roman reverse type such as Mars or a similar deity. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded border, and the broad flat flan exhibits the irregular contour typical of hammered Indian imitative aurei. |
