Obverse description Hammered copper flan of irregular outline bearing a multi-line Arabic legend within the field. The inscription, struck in a bold though slightly uneven relief characteristic of Ottoman hand-struck copper coinage, occupies the full face of the coin and reads the sultan's name and patronymic. The surfaces show typical die wear and flan irregularities consistent with fifteenth-century Ottoman manghir production.
