| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field displays a stylised rho-cross or wheel motif enclosed within a plain inner circle, with radiating lines dividing the interior into segments, a design evoking the civic or ecclesiastical symbolism of the city of León. The surrounding Latin legend reads +LEO CIVITAS, denoting the city of León as the place of issue. The die-cutting displays the characteristic irregularity of hand-hammered billon coinage of the Leonese monetary tradition of the early twelfth century. |

Alfonso VI died in 1109, meaning this issue falls within the final year of a reign that had already stretched four decades and reshaped the political geography of the Iberian peninsula. His capture of Toledo in 1085 had prompted the Almoravid intervention from North Africa, and by 1108 his armies had suffered the catastrophic defeat at Uclés, where his only legitimate son Sancho was killed — leaving the succession unresolved and the kingdom in crisis. Billon struck this late almost certainly reflects monetary stress rather than administrative routine.
