| Opmerkingen |
Forces Afloat Recreation Centers were a U.S. Navy initiative providing canteen and recreational services to ships and personnel operating in forward areas — Purvis Bay, in the Florida Islands of the Solomon chain, served as a major fleet anchorage for South Pacific operations through 1944. These beer vouchers functioned as scrip, keeping currency off the mess decks while rationing alcohol consumption to authorized limits.
Not issued by any banking authority and never redeemable for cash, they fall outside conventional currency classification but are legitimately collectible as military fiscal ephemera. Most were discarded or destroyed after use.
