| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse bears the place name of the mint, WILTBVRC (Wiltburg, the early medieval name for Utrecht), inscribed in two lines across the field, divided by a faint cross outline. The large, bold capital letters fill the flan and are typical of the rustic epigraphic style employed at episcopal mints of this period. The irregular flan edges and variable strike are consistent with hand-hammered production at a late tenth- to early eleventh-century ecclesiastical workshop. |
