| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central type depicting an elephant standing to the right within the field, with a Macedonian-style kausia (royal cap) or monogram device above. The surrounding circular legend in Greek script reads ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ ΑΖΟΥ (Of the Great King of Kings, Azes), rendered in the Hellenistic epigraphic tradition characteristic of Indo-Scythian coinage. The flan is irregular and the relief is moderately bold, consistent with hand-struck hammered production. The elephant, a symbol of royal power and conquest in the eastern tradition, is rendered in a schematic but recognizable style typical of late Indo-Scythian copper issues. |
