Obverse description Draped bust of Antoine I, Prince of Monaco, facing right, with long flowing wig characteristic of the Louis XIV period. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief with fine drapery detail visible at the truncation. A dotted inner border frames the design. The Latin legend encircles the portrait reading ANT I D G PRIN MONOECI, identifying the ruler as Antoine I by the grace of God Prince of Monaco.

Reverse description The arms of Monaco — a round shield bearing the Grimaldi fusilly lozengy of argent and gules — displayed at center, surmounted by a princely crown and flanked on each side by a palm branch. The heraldic composition is boldly struck in moderate relief. The circumferential Latin legend reads AVXIL MEVM A DOMINO (My help comes from the Lord), with the date 1701 incorporated into the legend, all enclosed within a dotted border.
