| Obverse description | Central field depicts a spread eagle displayed with wings raised, rendered in bold relief in the Romanesque style typical of early medieval Austrian coinage. Below the eagle, a facing human mask or head is shown in low relief, a characteristic heraldic device of the period. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a partial legend running along the outer periphery, largely illegible due to the irregular flan and die wear. The overall composition is crude but vigorous, consistent with hammered bracteate-influenced pfennig production of the early twelfth century. |
