Aanvullende informatie

Archelaus ruled Judaea as ethnarch rather than king — a deliberate demotion by Augustus, who refused him the royal title his father Herod I had held. He governed for roughly a decade before his own subjects, both Jews and Samaritans jointly petitioning Rome against him, secured his exile to Gaul around 6 AD. The Roman province of Judaea was formally established immediately after, with direct prefectural administration replacing the Herodian client arrangement.

Hendin 1193 is among the more frequently encountered of his types, though the small flan size means centering is almost always an issue with this emission.
