The legend reads فليس / ضرب / فلوس / ١١٦٢, indicating the mint name Tiflis (Tbilisi), the denomination puli (fulus), and the AH date 1162 (AD 1749). The lettering is boldly struck but shows some flatness and doubling consistent with hand-hammered technique. The coin's edges are irregular and the flan surface is granular. |

Teimuraz II ruled Kartli as a Persian vassal under Nader Shah, then briefly as a genuinely independent king following Nader's assassination in 1747. This copper puli dates to that short window of relative autonomy before his son Erekle II consolidated both Kartli and Kakheti under a single crown in 1762, effectively ending Kartli as a distinct political entity. The copper coinage of this period circulated alongside Persian and Ottoman issues in a region that had functioned as a contested buffer for over a century.
