The Jamul Indian Village, a federally recognized Band of the Kumeyaay Nation located in San Diego County, issued this piece — though the Tuscarora designation points to a specific honoree or tribal nation recognized through that issuing framework rather than the village itself.
The copper-nickel clad composition dates to the Coinage Act of 1965, which eliminated silver from circulating quarters entirely.
