KM#628 is a modern replica, not a period strike — the original Cedid Mahmudiye series was introduced under Mahmud II following the Nizam-ı Cedid reforms and the turbulent accession year of 1808, which itself opened with the assassination of Selim III and closed with the Deed of Alliance forcing Mahmud to share power with the provincial notables. The brass composition alone disqualifies any claim to originality; Ottoman fractional coinage of this type was struck in billon or silver.
