Obverse description Seated allegorical figure of the French Republic (Marianne) facing left, enthroned on an armchair, holding a fasces (lictor's bundle) in her right hand; a naval anchor stands to her right and a sheaf of wheat is placed to her left. A cockerel appears behind the figure. The peripheral legend reads REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE, with the date in the exergue and the engraver's signature BARRE below the figure. The composition is rendered in the classicizing neoclassical style characteristic of Barre's work.

Reverse description The central field bears the three-line inscription PIASTRE / DE / COMMERCE in bold raised lettering, enclosed within an elaborate laurel and palm wreath tied at the base with a ribbon bow, surmounted by a floral spray at the apex. The mint mark A (Paris Mint) appears at the center base of the wreath. The circular peripheral legend reads INDO-CHINE FRANCAISE to the upper half, with TITRE 0.900. POIDS 27 GR. distributed along the lower half, all separated by raised dots.
