| Obverse description | The field is entirely occupied by multi-line Chinese and Manchu inscriptions arranged concentrically and radially, without a central effigy. The outer legend, reading clockwise in Chinese characters, gives the reign title and province: 'Guangxu Year 30, Hubei Province' (造省北湖年十三緖光). The central field bears the large Chinese characters 大清 ('Great Qing') flanked by Manchu script reading 'Daicing' and 'Menggun jiha' (silver coin), with the character 清 below. The lower portion of the field reads 兩一平庫 ('One Tael, Treasury Standard'). The design is enclosed by a beaded inner border with the reeded rim visible at the periphery. |
