Reproductions of the large cent series exist in significant numbers, and catalog value is essentially nil — the Hobby Protection Act of 1973 requires replicas sold in the United States to be marked as such, though enforcement has been uneven and many unmarked pieces still circulate among novice collectors. Without a stamped "COPY" mark, any example should be treated as suspect regardless of apparent age or wear.
