| Beschrijving keerzijde | A distinctive voided or outlined cross motif occupies the central field, with a single pellet placed within each of the four interspaces of the cross arms. The outer field is subdivided into four quadrants, each filled with three rows of three pellets arranged in a regular grid pattern, producing a densely dotted decorative surround. No legend is present. This reverse type is characteristic of the Series J or related debased sceat issues of the late primary to secondary phase, and is executed with the bold but schematic style typical of hammered eighth-century Anglo-Saxon coinage. |
