Reverse description A plain cross pattée or cross potent displayed at the centre of a beaded inner circle, itself enclosed within a wreath or beaded border, all set within an outer zone of blundered and largely illegible Latin legend. The overall design is well-centred on the irregular flan and reflects the standard reverse type associated with this sceat series. The beaded border and cross motif derive ultimately from late antique ecclesiastical and imperial iconographic traditions, reinterpreted in a simplified Anglo-Saxon idiom.
