| Obverse description | A stylised Celtic griffin or hybrid beast rendered in the fluid, abstract La Tène artistic tradition, depicted in profile facing right with sinuous body, prominent haunches, and sweeping decorative wing or mane elements extending across the upper field. A circular annulet or pellet-in-ring device occupies the right field, serving as a typical Celtic decorative motif. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of hand-struck Iron Age silver coinage. The overall composition reflects the bold, curvilinear design vocabulary common to late British Celtic coinage of the Catuvellaunian series. |
