The inscription is framed by a plain inner circle, outside which a beaded border traces the coin's irregular hammered flan. The bold, angular calligraphy is characteristic of Ottoman gold coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The unadorned field between the inner circle and the border is typical of sultani issues struck at Cezayir during this period. |
