| Obverse description | A rampant lion holding a sword and shield stands atop the stern of a Viking-style warship, with a sea monster at the bow, all in high relief against a mirror-polished field. The legend MODET VÆRGER arcs along the upper rim, with DEN 2den APRIL / 1801 and the engraver's signature P.GIANNELLI.F: inscribed in the lower field. This is a reproduction of the original medal awarded to Commander Olfert Fischer and his men following the Battle of Copenhagen on 2 April 1801. |
