| Reverse description | The reverse is enhanced with lenticular technology, creating an animated illusion of motion across two alternating scenes when the coin is tilted. In the primary image, Churchill the polar bear — the beloved mascot of the Canadian two-dollar coin — is depicted sliding down a festively decorated holiday tree, accompanied by a beaver perched at the top and a rabbit positioned at the middle of the tree, while a caribou grazes peacefully in the background. Upon tilting, a second scene is revealed in which the animation intensifies: the beaver descends on his belly, the rabbit glides around the swaying tree, and Churchill's rapid descent has caused his toque to fly off. The design, conceived by illustrator Emily Chen, is framed by the inscriptions CANADA above and 50 CENTS below along the periphery. |
