Kas Negara Djambi emergency issues of 1947 belong to a chaotic period of Indonesian revolutionary finance, when the newly proclaimed Republic struggled to maintain any coherent monetary system against Dutch military pressure. Djambi — the South Sumatran residency — printed its own fractional notes locally because supply lines to the Republican treasury in Java were effectively severed during the first Dutch "Police Action" launched that July.

Locally produced paper and rudimentary printing equipment mean quality and ink consistency vary considerably across surviving examples — this is a known characteristic of the series, not individual wear.
