| Beschrijving voorzijde | A Libyan horseman depicted in half-left profile, mounted and carrying a rifle, rendered in relief at center. The equestrian motif is encircled by the full official state legend of the Great People's Socialist Libyan Arab Jamahiriya in Arabic script. The date in the Islamic Prophetic calendar (1369 after the death of the Prophet) appears within the surrounding inscription. The overall design is framed by an ornamental border consistent with the coin's decagonal form. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Libya's quarter dinar was introduced as part of a recoinage program following years of economic strain under international sanctions imposed after the Lockerbie bombing. By 2001, those sanctions were still formally in place — they wouldn't be fully lifted until 2003 — meaning the country was minting coins for a domestic economy largely cut off from international trade.
