| Obverse description | Green-tinted note with a scalloped border enclosing the principal design. To the left, a laurel-wreathed oval vignette bears a portrait bust of Carl Landgraf zu Hessen, inscribed with his name in a curved legend. At centre, a tall obelisk monument surmounted by a standing figure rises above a chequered-pattern ground, with a heraldic lion and coat of arms at its base. To the right, a second oval vignette within a laurel wreath displays the shield arms of Stadt Carlshafen, inscribed 'SIE BURG'. The lower left carries a cartouche with the redemption text in Gothic script, and a serial number panel to the lower right bears the issue number. |
