Beschrijving voorzijde Central field bearing the interlaced crowned 'AB' royal cypher of King Philip V, rendered in raised relief within a circular wreath border. The monogram is composed of the letters A and B intertwined beneath a royal crown. A circumferential legend in small Latin lettering encircles the central device. The overall design is contained within a beaded or dotted inner border, characteristic of Spanish colonial pattern issues of the period.

Beschrijving keerzijde Central field featuring a crowned royal arms or heraldic device in raised relief, surrounded by a circular wreath or ornamental border. The crowned motif occupies the majority of the flan, with subsidiary decorative elements flanking the central charge in the field. A circumferential legend in Latin lettering runs along the periphery. The heavy lead flan and crude striking are consistent with the experimental nature of this pattern issue.

Aanvullende informatie

The barrillo was a provisional copper coinage system unique to the colonial Philippines, used to address the chronic shortage of small change that plagued the islands throughout the eighteenth century. Lead substitutes were occasionally struck as patterns or emergency proposals when copper supplies were interrupted or procurement from Mexico delayed. Whether KM#Pn6 ever advanced beyond pattern status is unresolved — no circulating lead barrillo issue from 1743 is documented with confidence.

Manila's monetary supply in this period depended heavily on the Manila Galleon trade, making it structurally vulnerable to any disruption in transatlantic or transpacific shipments.
