| Descrizione del dritto | Engraved in the mid-nineteenth-century North American private bank note tradition, the obverse centres on a heraldic vignette of the British Royal Arms supported by lion and unicorn, flanked by two classical allegorical female figures. The bank title FARMERS JOINT STOCK BANK runs in bold letterpress across the middle register, with the denomination ONE DOLLAR in red overprint below; the place and date of issue, Toronto, Feb. 1, 1849, appear in the lower centre beneath manuscript signatures of the Manager and Cashier. |
