| Obverse description | The obverse features two mouflons (Ovis orientalis ophion), the endemic wild sheep emblematic of Cypriot fauna, depicted in profile facing left within the central field. The inscription in Greek and Turkish scripts encircles the design, reading 'ΚΥΠΡΟΣ · [year] · KIBRIS', identifying the issuer in both official languages of Cyprus. Twelve stars of the European Union form a ring around the rim, a motif common to all euro coinage. The design was executed by Tatiana Sotiropoulou and Erik Maell. |
