Opmerkingen

Belilla de Cinca is a tiny municipality in Huesca, Aragon, and this note is a product of the Spanish Civil War's extraordinary monetary fragmentation. When the Republic's central supply chains collapsed after 1936, hundreds of local cooperatives, municipalities, and worker collectives across loyalist territory issued their own emergency scrip. The Cooperativa Única — a single unified cooperative, as the name implies — was the kind of institution that sprang up rapidly under anarcho-syndicalist influence in rural Aragon during this period.

The Gari Montserrat reference places this within the well-documented but still incompletely catalogued body of Aragonese local issues. The official stamp is the sole security measure — entirely typical for village-level scrip where the issuer's physical presence was the only real guarantee of redemption.
