| 背面描述 | The municipal coat of arms of Toa Baja is depicted centrally, enclosed within an ornamental wreath of laurel branches. A mural crown surmounts the shield, which bears the traditional heraldic emblems of the municipality. The founding year "1745" appears to the left of the arms and the serial number "#12" to the right. The municipality name "TOA BAJA" is inscribed along the upper arc, while the civic motto "CIUDAD DE LOS LLANEROS" (City of the Plainsmen) curves along the lower periphery. |

Toa Baja is one of Puerto Rico's oldest municipalities, founded in 1745, and this peseta belongs to a series issued by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico commemorating its constituent towns — an unusual exercise in local identity for a territory whose monetary policy is entirely controlled by Washington. The peseta denomination itself carries deliberate historical irony: Spain's base currency unit, defunct in Puerto Rico since the American takeover in 1898, resurrected here over a century later in silver.
