| 裏面の説明 | Central device features a winged figure — apparenty an angel or allegorical personage with spread wings — rendered in low to moderate relief at the center of the field. Flanking the central figure on both sides are parallel horizontal lines arranged in a stepped or tiered pattern, suggestive of stylized rays or decorative striations. The denomination legend 1 CEROS appears in the upper portion of the field in bold Latin capitals, with the numeral 1 to the left. The field is otherwise plain, with no additional inscriptions or border embellishments. |

Montserrat's 1997 volcanic eruption buried Plymouth — the island's capital — under meters of ash and pyroclastic debris, effectively destroying the southern half of the island and displacing the majority of the population. A decade on, the island's government was still rebuilding institutional infrastructure, which makes this 2007 pattern issue a bureaucratic curiosity more than a monetary one. Pattern coins for British Overseas Territories rarely progress to circulation, and Montserrat, sharing Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority coinage, had no independent monetary mechanism to deploy one.
