The surrounding outer ring is gold-plated and carries inscriptions in Abkhaz separated by dot dividers: in the upper arc, АҦСНЫ АҲӘЫНҬҚАРРА (The Republic of Abkhazia), and in the lower arc, the commemorative dates 1993 and 2013 flanking the word АИААИРА (Victory). A continuous dotted border encircles the design. |

Sulkhan Sosnaliev commanded Abkhazian forces during the 1992–1993 war with Georgia, a conflict that ended with Abkhazia achieving de facto independence — though recognition from United Nations member states remains almost entirely absent. The National Bank of Abkhazia, itself unrecognized by international financial institutions, issues these collector pieces in part to assert a functioning sovereign monetary apparatus. Mintages are extremely low, distribution is limited to a narrow collector market, and pieces rarely surface outside the post-Soviet numismatic trade.
