Beneath the crown, a raised circular ring occupies the central field, flanked on either side by crossed flags or banners in low relief. The legend ROMANIA appears in bold raised letters on a curved ribbon or scroll running across the lower portion of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a finely beaded border. |

A wreath composed of laurel on the left and oak on the right, tied at the base with a ribbon, frames the lower portion of the central device. The date 1905 is inscribed in the lower exergual area between the wreath branches, and the whole is enclosed within a beaded border. |

Pattern coinage for Romania in this period was often produced in multiple metals simultaneously — the same dies struck in nickel, copper, brass, and occasionally aluminum — to allow the Finance Ministry and Carol I himself to make final decisions on both composition and aesthetics before committing to a production run. The 1905 10 Bani patterns were never adopted; Romania continued with its existing coinage rather than introducing a new type that year.
Brass survivors from this trial are genuinely scarce, as pattern runs were small and most examples entered private or institutional collections almost immediately after striking.
