Portugal's 10 centavos bronze coinage of the mid-1930s was produced under the Estado Novo regime, which had consolidated power under Salazar following the 1926 military coup. The 1936 date places this piece in the early phase of Salazar's financial restructuring, during which the escudo was deliberately stabilized through severe austerity — making even small-denomination bronze issues politically loaded objects of everyday commerce.
