| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the colonial coat of arms of Mozambique, depicted as a quartered shield featuring the Portuguese quinas (five escutcheons arranged in a cross) in the upper-left quarter, a navigational armillary sphere in the upper-right, a stylized tree above wavy lines representing the sea in the lower portion, all enclosed within a plain rectangular shield. The colonial legend COLONIA DE MOCAMBIQUE arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1936 appears at the bottom between two raised dots, all within a raised rim. |

Portugal's 10 centavos bronze coinage of the mid-1930s was produced under the Estado Novo regime, which had consolidated power under Salazar following the 1926 military coup. The 1936 date places this piece in the early phase of Salazar's financial restructuring, during which the escudo was deliberately stabilized through severe austerity — making even small-denomination bronze issues politically loaded objects of everyday commerce.
