Obverse description Classical allegorical standing figures in intaglio vignettes at left and right margins, each set within ornate architectural pilasters. The central field bears the large denomination inscription in Greek, with the issuing bank's name at top and a circular embossed seal to the left. The border is composed of intricate engine-turned guilloche panels interspersed with medallic portrait roundels at the corners and lower margin vignettes of mythological figures.

Only a handful of examples are documented from this series, making P#14 among the rarest Greek issues in existence. The National Bank of Greece was founded in 1841 — the same year this note was authorized — meaning these early Drachmai notes were issued almost immediately upon the bank's establishment, before any reliable printing infrastructure had been developed domestically.

The embossed seal was the primary authentication method, a vulnerability that was apparently recognized quickly; the series was superseded within a few years.
