Only a handful of examples are documented from this series, making P#14 among the rarest Greek issues in existence. The National Bank of Greece was founded in 1841 — the same year this note was authorized — meaning these early Drachmai notes were issued almost immediately upon the bank's establishment, before any reliable printing infrastructure had been developed domestically.
The embossed seal was the primary authentication method, a vulnerability that was apparently recognized quickly; the series was superseded within a few years.
