The denomination '10 MERIT' appears in the upper legend, flanked by the split date '20' and '17' to the left and right of the shield respectively. Liberland — the self-proclaimed micronation occupying a disputed sliver of land on the western bank of the Danube between Croatia and Serbia — declared independence in April 2015, exploiting a territorial ambiguity left unresolved after the Yugoslav succession. Its coinage program exists almost entirely as a collector and promotional exercise; no circulating economy has ever operated there. This piece is a specimen test planchet, struck to evaluate the silver plating over a zinc alloy core before committing to a production run that, for all practical purposes, never materialized into general use.
