The Garuda Pancasila coat of arms appears as a central watermark-like underprint, above the two-line overprint "IRIAN BARAT" applied in green letterpress. The Bank Indonesia title and date "1960" are inscribed at the top, with the denomination "SEPULUH RUPIAH" across the lower margin and the numeral "10" at upper left; the printer's imprint "PERTJETAKAN KEBAJORAN" appears at the foot. |

This note belongs to a short-lived overprint series issued when Bank Indonesia needed to rapidly remonetize lower denominations amid the economic disorder of the early Sukarno period. Rather than commission a full new printing, existing stock was overprinted at Percetakan Kebayoran — the state printer that handled much of Indonesia's domestic currency work during this period — a cost-saving measure that also reflects how strained government finances were by 1963.
The Pick R04 designation places it in the regional/emergency category, and surviving examples with clean overprint registration are harder to find than the catalog suggests.
